A place to talk about your hobbies and crafts. |
To all who read and answered the Hobby thread. I used to use my spare money to buy things to put on my bulletin board in my school room, such as a straw man/scarecrow from the Wizard of Oz. I did not bring them home but should have. One interesting way to get pictures or posters are from the supermarket or grocery store after they hung from the ceiling. One holiday season I asked for and got huge ornaments from a store. I took them home and hung them from the limbs of the trees outside my house. One night the wind blew so hard that they were torn up> (sad face :( ). Inside decorations were very few because some stores such as Pier Imports had very expensive items. And I also did not have parties or many people come over. I guess my friends called me a recluse. I do enjoy looking at how my sister-in-laws decorated. And I am not very artistic. That might explain my mediocre grades in art class when I was younger. But embroidery was fun for me and helped me pass the time when I was watching TV and the show became boring. I tried crochet but became confused about counting the number of loops or whatever. When my grandmother died, she left me her tatting shuttle. Now that was a read challenge but I have passed for now. There are more things to talk about. I love to read. I have really enjoyed the options and inspiration from poetry, especially here at WDC. As last, my physical hobby was fencing. It gave me the exercise and mental chess game I needed. My coach helped me develop a good style and as a result I qualified for 13 national championships. Those were great trips which I would like to do all over again. I must stop somewhere so I guess I should now. Thanks for asking and reading. Have a great summer. |
