The nice thing about DokuWiki is that all the data for the pages are stored in plain text files, so backing up is simply a matter of copying the data folder. This not only holds the current pages, but also all the reverse-delta files so you can look back at and recover previous versions of any edited page - that's priceless.
DokuWiki has a rich set of plugins and extensions, as well as themes and templates, all easily manageable from within the built-in extension manager. The primary plugins I use are:
1 IndexMenu - provides the treeview in the left column
2 Farmer - allows a single instance of the software to manage as many wikis as you like
3 Auto-Tooltip - pop-view of linked pages
4 Move Plugin - moving and rename pages whilst maintaining links
My wiki farm runs on a Raspberry Pi, but DokuWiki is PHP software, so will run on any computer or operating system where PHP is supported.
