"Fading Thunder" ![]() ![]() I didn't write this line as a reply to bori. I'd had the idea of Chelsea playing Seth in my head all along. But I'm glad to have been able to oblige him. The previous batch of chapters doubled as an exploration of Steve Patterson. I don't think you can say the same thing about this batch as an exploration of Kelsey Blankenship, unless by "exploration of Kelsey" you mean Will getting off on being able to consciously screw around with her body. So this one was just supposed to be classic "fun" and I hope it worked. I know from the Gift Points I got that some people enjoyed it. Thank you! I do think it ends in an interesting place: Chelsea admitting she just wants to live her current life over and over again, and Will admitting he wants to live someone else's. I'm not sure these rather obvious facts have ever been stated so baldly, or recognized by Will with such clarity. But I think this will have to make a difference to this branch, if and when it resumes. Recognition won't have given Will any new and specific goal, but it's the kind of realization that I think will curb his tendency to drift. So I say "if and when" it resumes, because I suspect Will would become more intent on living out whatever identity he assumes—and I think one of the attractions of BoM is that Will rarely stays in one place for long. Unless his assumed identity is itself interesting and comes with goals of its own, I'm not sure how long it would remain compelling. |
