I am not surprised, and I personally wouldn't rely on an AI translator for anything important. (But for that matter, if I needed translations for something important, I would hire two or three tranlators, and if they disagreed I'd make them fight it out amongst themselves.) My argument, again, is not about whether AI is trustworthy. It's about whether the story needs an online translator to yield accurate translations of the Libra, and whether explicit reference to AI translators would make a difference.

The answer to the first question, I trust, is yes. Otherwise the story never gets started, or it stalls out way too often. To the second I think I'm now reconciled to simply referring to "online translators" as I have been doing when the Libra is being deciphered, and letting people infer or assume the actual tools being used. In 2015, that would have been Google Translate. In 2025, they can assume it's AI.
