Okay, I have only been trad published, but I have done a lot of research into self-publishing.

This is currently the best website to see if a publisher or other service is worth getting involved with:

If this site says to be careful of a publisher, trust them. It is one of the best aggregate sites in this regard.

The thing to watch out for is hybrid or vanity publishers. this where they say they will pay some expenses and you will pay others. These are to be avoided at all costs. Only get involved in companies where you are in complete control and pay for all the services and there are no hidden or extra costs.
