I originally had wanted to be a veterinarian. I've always loved animals. Then, sometime in high school, I changed my mind and set it on joining the Navy and getting into the Naval Academy. Had the scores and grades to do so. Was all set to go until my Epilepsy got in the way. I was told that I'd have to wait until after I could be seizure free for a year without being on any type of medication. It never happened. Instead, I was married by 19 and a mom at 20. Went back to school after my girls were grown and got my B.S. in Biology with a focus on plant genetics and a minor in Chemistry - and used said degree to teach secondary sciences grades 7-12. Don't even do that now though. As for being a veterinarian, I guess the closest I'll ever come is being a Mom/caretaker to an abundance of dogs, cats, lizards, birds, a ferret, horses, cattle, pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, an owl, a skunk, and even some fish through the years. Nowadays, we've gotten our pet population down to a respectable two dogs and two cats, however. |
