Sorry too hear that. I knew a few kids whose parents couldn't either. My aunt would sometimes make certain friends of ours their costumes. We bought a few from the store but not a lot. My father was the same way. He hated spending money on things we'd only use once.

I can understand the embarressment being with the other kids. Kids can be mean and cruel at time. Not sure if you ran into that.

I wore the Charlie Brown ghost costume one year as well. Well, that was good they made sure it didn't look like a KKK outfit. With something like that all you needed was the pointy hat. Nowadays, I'm wondering the way this country is, if kids are going to go out looking like the KKK or worse a Nazi.
