Well, I've stolen a few kisses in my younger days, and I've borrowed a few items from former employees (again, I was quite young), and I once, for a joke, stole the neighbor's front steps. They had a four-foot square platform with two steps and a rail on it in front of their porch. Their son chained his bike to the rail. A friend and I decided to leave the bike and the chain, but to take the front steps instead. Picking the bike lock didn't prove to be much of a challenge, but when we went to move the porch, we discovered that the posts when a few feet into the ground. Not to be discouraged, we quietly returned with a shovel and dug out the posts, then with one on each side, worked our butts off to carry the heavy platform across the yard and stash it behind our garage. The idea was to sit in watch to see the looks on their faces when they discovered our prank. Unfortunately, it took the better part of the night to accomplish our goal, and we slept through their discovery. Also unfortunate was the fact that my did discovered the steps behind the garage and we had to confront the neighbor about what we did, then drag the heavy steps back over and put them back in place. It was a good lesson in "crime doesn't pay". A proud member of "WdC SuperPower Reviewers Group" "Reading soothes the soul, writing sets it free." T.J. |
