Thanks, Busman - I appreciate that. My parents were my primary caregivers until I graduated from high school; although where my father was concerned, and for obvious reasons, the transition to outside caregivers took place in middle school.
I should clarify - It's not that my regular caregivers mind taking me places - The problems have to do with liabilty and insurance issues.
The woman who facillitated my independent living training often reminded my class and I how much time, energy, and effort it takes to physically care for someone else. I can hear how deeply you cared for your wife, and I have no doubt she cared just as deeply for you.
