“Uhh… I’m getting bored… I guess I’m gonna go look at the comic books, okay?” Jared finally said to Drew after having spent twenty minutes scrolling on his cell phone.
“Sure thing, bro! I’ll send you over there. The comics are on the other side of this floor!” Drew smiled as he snapped his fingers, instantly teleporting Jared over to the section.
POP!
Jared popped up standing right before a large section of comic books!
“Oh man, he just has to teleport me everywhere, huh?” Jared mumbled, as he walked up to the huge wooden shelf where all the comic books were located. Right away, he took a look at a few of them, including comics featuring Batman, Superman, The Hulk, and Captain America.
About five minutes later, a nice lady and her youngest son walked by Drew’s table. The lady had a few books to look through while the boy had nothing in his hands.
“Mom… How long are we gonna be here?” the boy, named Jeremy, whined. “I’m bored!”
“Hey, go over to the comic book section!” the lady named Linda said to the boy, who was about 12 years old.
Drew took note of the lady and the boy.
“Hi! Uhh… Excuse me! A good friend of mine is also there, in the comic book section. Go over there and go say hi to him! You can’t miss him. He’s got big muscles!” Drew laughed as he flexed his thin arm.
“Big muscles?” Jeremy asked Drew. “Wow! So, he looks like a superhero?”
Right away, Drew got Jeremy’s attention. Drew caught on to that and he thought of a way to brighten the kid’s day right away.
“Yeah! In fact, I’ll tell you a secret! If you tell him which superhero you want him to be… He will magically change into an exact copy of that superhero!” Drew giggled. “For real!”
“Say what? Are you serious?” Jeremy shouted.
“Jeremy! We’re in the library! You gotta be more quiet!” Linda hissed.
“Aww… Sorry mom!” Jeremy whispered as he walked up to where Drew was sitting.
“So… If I see a muscle guy by the comic books and I tell him he’s Superman…. He’ll change into Superman?” the boy whispered to Drew.
“Yes!”
Jeremy’s jaw dropped wide open.
“Aww… Where are the comic books? I gotta check this out!”
Drew pointed towards the large wooden rack where Jared was, while quietly casting a superhero spell on Jared as Jeremy, the 12-year-old kid, started running towards him.
Jeremy reached the comic book section in just a few seconds where he saw only one person there… It was Jared, who was very muscular!
“Ohhh! There he is!” Jeremy said quietly.
At first, Jeremy was a little shy and intimidated by Jared’s size and muscles. He quietly walked up to the large rack and picked up a magazine. Of course, it was a Superman comic book.
Jeremy cleared his throat as he quietly walked up to Jared. Then, he acted as if he was busy reading the comic book. He did that for a few minutes, until he put the book back. Then he turned to face Jared.
“Wow! You’re so big and strong. I bet you must be Superman!” Jeremy said quietly, just loud enough so Jared could hear it.
PING!
Jared was engulfed in a bright light which lasted a split second. When the light faded, it left Jared standing there, in the library, wearing the full Superman uniform: The blue tights, the red boots, the red trunks, and the long red cape with the very familiar S-emblem embroidered across his big, bulging chest!
“Whoaaaa!” Jeremy gasped, as he gawked at the transformation.
Jared, on the other hand, didn’t even notice the change since he was deeply immersed into his comic book.
“Holy frick! You… You are Superman!” Jeremy said out loud.
“Huh? What? Who?” Jared asked him.
“YOU! You’re Superman!”
“What are you talking—” Jared wondered, when he looked down at himself and realized that he was in full Superman costume, just like the kid had said! “HEY! What happened?”
“Aww… You look so COOL!” Jeremy grinned, as he walked around Jared and examined his very detailed superhero costume.
“Hey… What the hay… My clothes changed! Did Drew do this?” Jared wondered as he looked down at himself and noticed his boots, his trunks, his blue tights and his long, red cape. “I’m all dressed up like a superhero!”
“Wow! You look SO COOL!” Jeremy cheered. “You make a great Superman, mister!”
“Ah… Why… Uhh… Thanks, bro!” Jared replied shyly. “I really don’t know where the costume came from!”
“Well, you make a great Superman! I wonder how you look as Spider-Man?” the boy added.
Suddenly, there was a blinding flash of light that surrounded Jared for a split second. When the light faded, there was a tall, lean figure standing there, wearing a blue and red costume which had webbing all over him, from head to toe, including the red hooded mask which covered his head and face.
“Whoaaaa! Now you… You’re… You’re Spider-Man!” Jeremy shouted.
Jared, now wearing the Spider-Man hood over his head, looked down at his arms and chest. He realized his was dressed in the full Spider-Man costume! He wore red leggings from his feet to his calves, then he had blue tights up to and past his groin, from there he had the red and blue design up to his shoulders including the black spider design across his chest and finally the red and blue design over his arms and hands. Lastly, he wore the red hood over his head, which covered the mouth, nose, eyes and ears. It only showed two white areas for the eyes.
“I guess you need to be reading a Spider-Man comic now!” Jared laughed, as he extended his right hand with his palm facing upward. A string of web shot from his hand, striking a Spider-Man comic book which was on the shelf. Jared the used the webbing to pull the comic book off the shelf and he slung it right into Jeremy’s hands!
“There ya go! Now you can read about me!” Jared grinned, while still wearing his Spider-Man gear. Jared figured he would change into a superhero every time the kid mentioned which superhero he wanted Jared to change into.
“Wow! This is SO COOL!” Jeremy grinned widely, as he walked up to Jared and touched his arms and chest. “You’re so totally for REAL!”
Jared realized he had made the kid’s day! Since he also loved comic books, he didn’t mind changing into a superhero, if that was what this kid wanted!
Which other superheroes did Jeremy wish for Jared to change into?
