You decide that the human race being the only sentient race on the planet is very boring. You have always been a huge fan of the Elven Race. You click on the button, new species. A new set of markers and choices pop up. There is a list of races that are currently known throughout human myth, legend and even popular novels. You are quite shocked at how extensive the database is. Next to each race is a indication of what story, movie, myth or other media it came from. Some races like the Elves have many different sub groups. Tolkien, Harry Potter, along with many other choices. There is even a costume race option. You click on the Tolkien Elves, and another sub-set of choices appears, referances to books, movies etc that use variations of the core Tolkien Elf. You decide on the standard Tolkien Elves. Again you get more choice, Wood Elf, High Elf and Moon Elf. Looking at the descriptions of each group, it turns out that Legolas and the elves of Mirkwood were considered Wood Elves, wilder and closer to nature. Galadriel and her clan were Moon Elves, with their moon and star magic, and Elrond and Arwen were High Elves, more inclined to leadership and high magic.
Thinking about it, for a bit you decide, what the hell add all three. Another menu pops up asking how to distribute this new race. You look aver the choices and two catch your eye. By nationality/region, or by blood/family. There is also a note that Elven physiology is close enough to Human, that the ability to use the software would not be lost.
