Chapter #5Something traditional. by: Jerec "Hmm, I know! Cereal!" Tulip exclaims happily. Your little sister may be vicious when it comes to tormenting you, even surprisingly mature, in a technical sense, but she's still an eight year old girl. She grabs a bowl, a spoon, a box of cereal, and some milk and sets it up at the table, pouring the cereal into the bowl, filling it with milk, and putting the box and milk away, all while holding you in her practiced clutches.
She returns to the table and sits down. Holding you over the cereal bowl she stops and seems to think for a moment, the gears in her cruel head turning. "You know what Steve, I think we'll just spend some normal brother sister time together today!" She announces in a shocking twist. "That's right, no belly time for you." Your sister adds, leaving you speechless. At this point you were practically expecting to be inside her. Instead she plucks out a milky piece of cereal and gives it to you. "There's your breakfast big bro." She says, using her favorite ironic nickname for you.
You hold the large chocolate ring in front of you, looking up at her suspiciously. "What's the catch?" You ask, your experience to date with your sister screams that she is up to something.
"No catch, can't I just want to hang out with my older brother?" She asks innocently.
"Usually that means I'm inside you trying to get out, Tulip." You reply still very suspicious.
"Well, today's different, maybe I'm tired of being mean to you and want to be a better sister." She suggests, sounding surprisingly serious. "So eat your cereal and I'll eat mine, then maybe we can play some games or watch a movie." She says, before starting to chow down on her breakfast.
The day passes by with you expecting her to break her word the whole time, however she surprisingly doesn't. Tulip stays on the best behavior you've seen her have alone with you, last time this occurred was when she was six and had the threat of punishment looming over her head because she'd nearly flushed you. Tracy gets home and nearly goes into shock seeing Tulip sitting peacefully on the couch with you resting comfortably on her lap watching a movie together. You're still suspicious of her but accepting at this point. Tracy eyes her suspiciously and decides to join in to make sure that Tulip remains a good girl.
Not long after Tracy gets home, your mother returns and is pleasantly surprised, especially when she's told that Tulip has behaved herself, even alone with you. "That's great Tulip! See Tracy, I told you we could leave them home alone and things would be okay." She tells your older sister. That's when you figure it out, Tulip's being nice as a trick so that she'll be allowed to stay home alone with you more often. "Well Tracy, I guess that means we're free to do some more shopping, come on let's go!" She tells your older sister. The two leave heading out for a mother/daughter night out on the town. Leaving you trapped, alone again with your little sister only now they trust her. indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
