Tails/Amy/whatever runs to the door to lock it, but was too late.

"Hey Tails! I was just wondering if you wanted to..." and then Sonic saw the pink combo of Tails and Amy. Thinking it was Amy, he ran off with a sonic boom. The air force that he caused knocked Tails/Amy back into the machine.

"Oh COME ON!" tails yelled as the machine started up again.
