Chapter #7
Life of Luxory
by: Unknown
Nala awoke to find herself in the lush green jungles of Africa again, but she could sense it wasn't home. As she looked around she didn't recognize any of the trees or rocks. There weren't even any other animals around, let alone her family. She became certain she was somewhere else when she came to the end of the new home which was fenced with a metal fence. She tried climbing over it, but the barbed wire at the top kept people from sneaking in or out.
Feeling saddened she secluded herself by a nearby tree and watched the clouds float by, imagining they were her family slowly going further and further away. Her isolation was broken when an old, ugly lady with too much makeup on came by her cage. She spoke in a most disturbing voice that Nala could only mean she was her captor now.
Nala would've growled in fury at her, but after all she had been through she felt fatigue and hunger kick in, keeping her silent.
"Oh, you poor dear. Henry!" she shouted at a nearby man dressed in a white uniform. "The poor thing is starving. Give it something to eat."
"Yes, mam'" he responded.
"How dare you! You know to only address me by my last name!"
"Yes, Miss Bumblesbee."
"That's better. Now feed the thing a few pieces of steak and then hurry up. I have so many things to do and you can't be lollygagging all day."
She began marching off leaving Henry and Nala alone. "Sorry, girl, she's a witch I know. I'm actually a veterinarian, but she closed down the animal hospital I worked at. I was able to get this job here because you came and she needed someone to take care of you."
Nala felt a warmth from the human that was far different from the icy sensation she got from the ugly human earlier.
"Let's see what she got you to eat now." he said as he pulled out a drumstick almost entirely bare of meat. "THE OLD HAG!!! She has no feelings of others. She brought you because of a stupid fad to own wild animals and she doesn't even know anything about you. She thinks she could feed a lioness like yourself. This couldn't feed an ant. Probably a little something she had left over after she was eating last night."
Henry looked over at the little lioness and saw her larger than normal stomach, which gave off a soft growl.
"Hmm, you look like a big eat too and I bet you haven't eaten since before you were captured. Don't worry girl, I'll get you some food, just you wait."
Nala watched him walk off and even though she couldn't understand a word he just said, knew she had at least one human she could count on.
