Finishing her meal, Rozalin slumped back into her chair, holding her swollen belly and groaning quietly. Her eyes were half open, her mind clouded over in a sheer gluttonous stupor, which was all the more apparent now that her tummy hung bare in her lap.
"Ugh...gotta...get to bed..." she mumbled, her manners completely out the window as she stood clumsily, her tummy taking a tumble as gravity took hold, yanking her along with it and causing a yelp of pain to escape her lips.
"Milady!" Thiel called, rushing over and scooping her up, noticing tears in her eyes. "I'm so sorry...I should have been watching." He said, wiping Rozalin's tears away gently before noticing she had dozed straight off. Carrying her along, Mariana exited the kitchen through a back door, eager to see how her mistress was faring, only to have her face fall.
"What happened, Thiel?" she asked, noticing the look of discomfort on Rozalin's sleeping face. Her heart fell, her mind wracked with a hint of guilt that it was one of her meals that had put her mistress in such a shape.
"Her chair broke. Seems that even ones made for the giant that was the former Zenon can't hold our Mistress for very long when someone tampers with her food..." he replied, now smelling a faint hint of various non-lethal toxins. Mariana looked shocked as Thiel went on. "It seems someone wanted to place the new Zenon out of commission, yet not kill her, and they found an effective way to do so. Lady Rozalin never was one to handle poisons very well."
"But...but...who could have done so? You personally supervised the preparation of the food, and you would have caught any whiff of poison. Right?" Mariana asked, following Thiel as he carried the now-sleeping Rozalin to her chambers. Entering, Thiel set the sleeping girl down and smiled, brushing a strand of hair from her eyes and patting her big, gurgling tummy before motioning for Mariana to follow him.
"I should have, though this nose isn't what it used to be. We'll just have to be cautious. I think it's high time that instead of the chefs cooking, they supervise. I've been thinking of outsourcing recently, and I have just the people in mind." he chuckled, while Mariana simply looked puzzled.
