Chapter #6

A Spiders New Life

    by: chaos Author IconMail Icon
He was home. Peter recognized his surrounds as the apartment he shared with his wife Mary Jane. He stared at his giant home, fear growing inside of him as the full ramifications of what was happening sank in. He had been shrunk, captured and was helpless in his own home with a criminal. The only thing Spider-Man feared the most was his family getting hurt. If his wife came home, she would be in danger and there wasn’t a thing he could do to stop it. This set Spider-Man into a blind panic as he struggled against his bonds, desperate to stop this villain before he hurt his wife.

“Don’t bother Spidey. Even if you do break the floss I tied you up with, it wouldn’t matter because I’m going to be gone in a minute,” Molecule Man told him calmly as he removed his costume. Spider-Man could only see the back of the villain’s head as he shrunk his costume down and tucked it away into his pocket. He was wearing a simple pair of jeans and a shirt; nothing stood out about him that Peter could see. He struggled to get a closer look at his face, but couldn’t make it out. Lying back on his own coffee table, he decided to indulge in the criminal’s monologue. These kinds of guys loved to talk.

“How did you know where I live Molecule Man and what are you planning? If you hurt her so help me I’ll…”

Spider-Man was cut off when Molecule Man started chuckling. Something Peter had said amused the criminal as he kept his back turned to the helpless hero and collected himself before speaking again. “As for how I know where you live, that’s a secret, but as for what I’m planning, well, I’m going to go home, count my money and maybe take a nice hot bath. It’s been a long day,” he casualty said and started walking away. Spider-Man watched him go in bewilderment. He was completely at his mercy and he was just leaving him in his house, it didn’t make sense. His enemies would kill for an opportunity like this and he was letting it go, like Spider-Man didn’t matter anymore.

Spider-Man remained silent for once, not asking the burning question on his mind. If Molecule Man was just going to let him go, he wasn’t going to complain. MJ would come home and find him and everything would be okay. Size changing wasn’t anything new for super heroes. All it would take was a call to Ant-Man or the Fantastic Four and he’d have some of the super hero communities greatest minds to help him return to normal. Once he was fixed, he could hunt down Molecule Man and make sure he gets locked away. Spider-Man had nothing to worry about, or at least he thought so. Before Molecule Man left his home, he called out to Spider-Man; a final taunt that would haunt the web slinger for a very long time.

“Enjoy your new life at half an inch Spidey. Whenever I shrink something, only I can unshrink it and since I don’t do favours for insects you’re going to remain that size forever. Sure hope you have someone you trust completely to look after you because I know a lot of women find shrunken men great toys. Good luck not becoming a stain on the floor or some broad’s plaything, insect.”

The door slammed shut behind him and Spider-Man was left alone and tied up on his coffee table. He didn’t dwell to much on the last thing Molecule Man said, he had a loving wife and super hero friends that would never let him become some sort of toy to a sadistic woman. The first part did bug him because when the Molecule Man had told him he would be stuck like this forever he had sounded completely convinced.

An hour passed before the door opened again. In walked Mary Jane Parker Watson, she had been out shopping and heard about her husband’s fight with New York’s latest super criminal. The bad guy had gotten away and Spider-Man hadn’t been spotted since the fight, but Mary Jane was confident he was okay. Her Peter was a tough guy and no one beat Spider-Man. She thought about what she had gotten today and what a nice surprise Peter was in for when he got home. She thought she might try it on and give her returning hero a reward when he got home, when she spotted something small on her coffee table. Putting down her bags, she moved closer until she was staring directly at her tiny, tied up husband in his spider suit.

“Hi MJ, how was you day?” He cheerfully asked and MJ just sighed and sat down on the couch in front of him. She should be used to this after being married to a super hero for all these years.

“Day fourteen of being Spider-Sized-Man,” Peter muttered to himself as he walked in circles. He was standing on his football field sized bed, wondering how things had turned out this way. Two weeks had passed since he shrunk. In the past few weeks he had spoken to everyone from Ant-Man to Dr. Strange and all of them told him the same thing, they had no clue how to fix him. It had been a frightening and stressful two weeks not only for him, but Mary Jane as well. She had been looking after him all that time, taking him to see all the super hero specialist and putting up with taking care of him. Even though he could still swing around and climb up walls, he still needed her help doing all the mundane things like keeping clean, eating and getting around the more spacious parts of their apartment that he couldn’t web through. The only thing that fit him was the spider suit he had been wearing when he shrunk and MJ was even trying to keep that clean. She had tried to keep up a happy face, but he knew it was bothering her.

That’s why she talked him into doing this. He had been unsure, but after getting a sultry smile and her assurances that it would work out fine, he crumbled, agreeing to what she wanted. He would do nearly anything for MJ and the guilt of having her take care of him made him feel terrible. Peter just hoped everything worked out all right.

“You ready, Tiger?” MJ asked from the doorway and Spider-Man looked up to stare at his giantess wife. He had seen her hundreds of times from his tiny perspective, but he never creased to be awestruck by the sight of the redheaded giantess. She was so beautiful and loving, that’s why he never gave any thought to Molecule Man’s final words. He trusted MJ with his life and knew that what happened tonight, everything would be fine.

Peter watched with affection as his wife walked into the room….
