Behind the cover

STILL UNDER THE SHEETS

Being cautious, but still curious, you decide not to press anything yet and explore the device a bit more to further understand the device's nature.

You turn around the device to look at the back of it. The ambient light from the screen bounces off the sheets - brightening the underside of the blankets which you lay curled up under. The ambient light allows you to see that the back of the device has some sort of cover - kind of like a battery cover. Curiously, but cautiously making sure not to press any buttons, you slide off the "battery cover"... revealing not a battery packet, but a piece of folded up paper with similar characters as the ones on the device's cover. With excitement almost overwhelming, you pick up the piece of paper and begin unfolding it with shaky hands.

The inside of the sheet of paper reveals much more than gibberish - it, surprisingly, displays small iconic pictures! Interestingly though, is that the pictures have an equal sign and a number to the left of them, which, reminds you of what the screen of the device kind of looks like. "The device must not have been able to interpret its coding so it displayed only digits and characters instead!", you think.

putting aside the piece of paper, you investigate the device further. You find that on the back of the device, underneath where the piece of paper was, you see 12 knobs, each numbered 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, *, 0, and # . You wonder what they're for but quickly give up.

Looking back at the sheet of paper, you see:

- 1 = (a picture of a circle with an arrow pointing to a similarly sized square)
- 2 = (a picture of a human and a question mark with a double-sided arrow between them)
- 3 = (a picture of a circle with an arrow pointing to nothing...?)
- 4 = (a picture of a small circle with an arrow pointing to a big circle)
- 5 = (a picture of a big circle with an arrow pointing to a small circle)
- 6 = (a picture of a circle with a very long arrow pointing to another identical circle)
- 7 = (a picture of a head with an arrow pointing to a head with a circle around it)
- 8 = (a picture of a head with an arrow pointing to a another human with a circle around it)
- 9 = (a picture of a upright triangle with an arrow pointing to an upside down triangle)
- 0 = (a picture of a circle with an "x" on top of it)
- * = <- (an arrow pointing backwards)
- # = -> (an arrow pointing forwards)

You wonder what the pictures mean. You feel and know that you are getting closer to the unknown nature of this device but yet you feel that it's still very alien to you...

All this becomes very frustrating and finally, you feel that you just have no more patience for mysteries anymore. Flipping over the device, you downright decide to press a button.

But what button do you decide to press?
