Chapter #8

A Little ~Science Experiment~

    by: Unknown
"SORRY J, BUT YOUR'E MINE NOW!" She hung the tiny teenager over the abyss that was her purse, putting the ray gun in, but first dug something out of it: a Petri dish, now big enough to hold all of the houses on her street with some room to spare. "LUCKILY FOR YOU, MY BROTHER IS ALSO A LOSER NERD. HE DIDN'T REALLY MIND IF I BORROW SOME THINGS OF HIS. AFTER ALL, I TOLD HIM IT WAS FOR A SCIENCE EXPERIMENT." Then she dropped Jessica, screaming, into the glass container with a THUD from Jessica's perspective. Pain shot up her leg as she clutched it, gritting her teeth. It wasn't damaged, but it hurt from a drop like that. "RELAX IN THERE. THAT'S NOTHING COMPARED TO WHAT'S IN STORE AHEAD." Brandy boomed from above. She put the lid on the dish, zipped up her purse, quickly bolted out of Becky's house and headed home.

Jessica had not been prepared for movement. When the first few steps came, much faster than expected, she screamed as her whole world tilted one way, causing her to smack against the Petri dish wall. Then, everything tilted the other way. And so on and so forth. She soon realized Brandy was right: it didn't have breathing holes (she survived by holding her breath) and the walls were tough, but being in the glass container protected the flea-sized nerd from being crushed by Brandy's huge items that she could barely see in the darkness. Seeing how Brandy's super huge smartphone would have crushed her for the 17th time made her remember her plan of calling the police. She instead decided on calling her mom. She might believe Jessica's story more than the police would. She reached for it again, putting in her mother's phone number and waited, begging she would pick up. Instead, she heard:

"Hello. You have reached the voicemail of Cassandra Thompson. I am currently busy right now, but you may leave a message and your phone number so I can call you back after the beep." The let-down teen waited until the mechanical beep emitted, then began:

"Mom, it's me, Jessica. You probably won't believe this, but I've been shrunken to a near microscopic size by Brandy, who is taking me to her house to be her new toy, whatever that means. Please come as soon as possible, I'm not sure if I can get out of here alive. I love you. Bye."

Then she hung up. Her mom was on a short business trip to anther state, but it was within driving distance of her town. Still, it would take her hours to arrive, if she even believed her daughter's tale.

Eventually, the movement stopped entirely, making Jessica drop her glasses and sprawl to the floor. A colossal hand, bigger than the Petri dish, reached in and scooped her up. The very small science geek watched as the strange new world of Brandy's house passed by in a blur. They soon turned a corner and ended up in the stuck-up cheerleader's room.

Brandy slid the Petri dish with Jessica inside under a huge and complicated machine she quickly realized was a microscope. "DID YOU LIKE THAT RIDE, JESSICA? NO? GOOD. HEY, WHAT IS THAT?" The tiny teen realized with horror that in all the chaos, she forgot to stow away her cell phone, which was now on the other side of the container. She lunged for it, but realized she was screwed when she saw a huge and long bent peice of black metal - a bobby pin - collect it and lift it high up to Brandy's massive palm. "TRIED CALLING FOR HELP, DID YOU? NICE TRY." She dropped it in her trash can, then reprinted her gun at Jessica. "YOU TRY AND GET IT, YOU GO FROM SPECK TO GERM IN THE BLINK OF AN EYE. I'LL BE RIGHT BACK" With that, Brandy left the room, and Jessica realized with relief that she forgot to screw the lid back on.

1. Go for the phone - she doesn't mean it, right?

2. Stay in the dish - don't risk being microscopic!
