Ty Lee's meeting with Dr. De Fang only lasted a few minuets, with De Fang con-graduating Ty Lee on getting Azula to break her hunger strike and made her promise that if she notices any other changes in Azula's behavior she would tell De Fang strait away. Ty Lee of course agreed to this and then after another few minuets of talking about Azula and each other she went back to the cell she shared with Azula.
"So you returned after talking to that perverted murderer." Azula stated through her muzzle as the guards let Ty Lee pass through the heavy metal door.
"Of course I did, Azula." Ty Lee responded in her normal cheerful manner. "I told you I would never leave you again and so I won't."
"But why would you stay? You already betrayed me once before, so I know that your decision isn't motivated by loyalty or friendship. And with this blasted jacket restricting me, you have no reason to fear me. So why do it? Why stay?"
Ty Lee instantly recognized the signs that Azula was about to go into one of her tantrums caused by her delusions and paranoia, and since she didn't want to see her Princess return to that dark place in her mind Ty Lee acted quickly to comfort her. Taking the strapped up Azula in her arms, she whispered gently in her friend's ear.
"Because you are my best friend and I do care about you. And like I said before, I only saved Mai because you were loosing your mind and I had to stop you before you did something you would later regret."
"LIER!" Azula yelled as she tried to break away from Ty Lee's embrace, but was unable to do to the straight jacket and her friend's tight grip, so she continued to scream at her. "It's your fault I'm in here! This is all your fault!"
"How is this my fault Azula?" Ty Lee asked, both astonished and insulted that the princess would accuse her of this. "I didn't make you banish all of your servants, nor did I make you have a mental break down when Katara and Zuko defeated you, and I'm definitely not causing you to have tantrums or create false memories or have delusions. So tell me, how is it my fault that you are trapped here?"
"I hate you Ty Lee." Azula growled, her unstable mind completely blocking Ty Lee's question when it couldn't come up with an answer. "I hate, hate, hate, hate, love you Ty Lee!"
Azula then retreated back into silence, but Ty Lee could only stare at her friend, dumb struck by what she had said.
"She couldn't have meant it." Ty Lee thought to herself after the initial shock wore off and the worry began to set in. "I'm mean she sounded so angry that it had to be a slip of the tong. There's no way Azula could have meant it when she said she loved me. She's insane. But... on the other Dr. Fang did ask me to report any strange behavior and it doesn't get any stranger than that. But do I have the right to impose on Azula's privacy when it could have been a slip of the tong. Maybe I should wait until I know that it was more than an accident. Yet what if by doing that I'm cause Azula even more misery? I can't take that chance, I have to tell Dr. Fang first thing tomorrow morning, right after breakfast."
