Lightning Farron, the Guardian Corp solider who had saved the world, was currently in uniform and trying her best to look professional as the crowd of citizens cheered for her and her friends. The former L'Cie were the toast of burgeoning civilization, a source of strength and inspiration for the struggling populace free from Cocoon. Several chefs were catering this latest feast and all were clamoring for the heroes to be the first to taste their cooking.
So it was that Lightning was ushered from station to station and handed plate after plate of rich, decadent food. There were pastas with exotic names, sugary puddings, and the oddest bread she had ever tasted. Still as the night wore on the solider found her belly reaching it's capacity. She had never really eaten so much food since she was a small child and the result was a horrific ache in her stomach, the lean muscles trying to hold back the onslaught of calories she had just ingested.
Glancing over at her friends, Lightning saw that Sahz and Snow were in a similar boat as her. Hope, on the other hand, was still eating, a pleased look on his face.
Even Lightning's sister was rubbing her full stomach.
A tap on her shoulder made Lightning turn around. It was her superior.
Saluting as fast as she could, she winced a little at the pain in her stuffed stomach.
"At ease Farron." The captain took a deep breath and gazed at the frivolity all around him. Turning back to his prized subordinate, the big man patted her on the shoulder. "Ease up. You and your friends saved the world after all. You deserve a break."
"A break," Lightning repeated, looking down at her stomach.
How many more breaks would she and her friends be subjected to as the months wore on?
