Outside the car, Buddy smells another dog

Once he got outside the car, Buddy sensed the smell of another dog. But it was something strange with the smell.

Once he got inside, he could see why. It was easily the fattest dog he had seen in his entire life! This round shepherd-lab mix had a belly that was far below his knees.

Was this how life would be with his new family? Would he too become such a blob of fat?

Suddenly, someone called for him. "Buddy! Come here, boy. "He held something in his hand. A big cookie!

Buddy walked over. Slowly. Not sure of what he should do.

Should be accept the cookie, or should he ignore it?
