“Oh hey Monica,” Ryan’s mom, Janelle says, “why are you here?”
“I was just here to see if you wanted to go get some coffee,” you lie quickly.
“Well, I actually have to take my daughter to her dance recital in 5 minutes,” Janelle says while Ryan’s younger sister, Megan, is running around the house packing a bag.
“Well that’s exciting,” you say while pretending to be interested.
Then you ask Janelle as Megan walks by, “how’s Megan’s dancing been going lately?”
Megan proceeds to jump in and talk about it for the next five minutes before she and Janelle get in the car to go to her dance. You wave to them from the porch to the side of the door, and just as they leave Ryan swings the door open to see them leaving and lets out a huge sigh. “What’s wrong?” You ask Ryan.
“I was about to go to Brandon’s but they left before I could ask for a ride,” Ryan answers.
“Well, luckily for you, I’m Brandon’s mom and I’ll give you a ride. I’m going home anyways,” you say to Ryan.
“Thank you Ms.Clark,” he says to you.
“No please, call me Monica,” you say to him. “Thank you Monica.”
You both hop in the car and you start driving. A minute into the drive, Ryan asks you why Brandon’s text messages have been weird.
