The door opens and a teenaged girl enters the room, pretty with long brown hair and wearing a yellow school like outfit you've seen some of the more mature students and teachers occasionally wear. When she speaks her voice is American but you get the impression she has some Jewish roots from her features.
"Oh! You must be the new roomie of mine. Nice to meet you, I'm Katherine Pryde, but you can call me Kitty if you'd like." Her hand stretches out to your and you shake it warmly.
Still, you are a little confused. "Um, so we're room mates? But you're a-"
"Girl? Well no duh. Its is true though - normally the Professor likes us to pair up with the same gender, but we're kind of busy right now so we made an exception in this case. No worries about privacy though - we have seperate bedrooms and all, we just share everything else right? Oh, and I'll promise not to be snoopy and all that." At an confused look from you she laughs. "Oh of course - you don't know my powers? Well I can phase through stuff like walls and floors. Really useful for sneaking about but gives you a heck of a bad rep when you start off." She sighs. "Course I've been here for a good year now so thats mostly past. So what's your power?"
You decide to be honest enough. "Metamorphsis."
"Ohhh, we have another shapeshifter! Shapeshifters are always handy round here." She glances about, as if looking for someone who might be listening in. "Listen, I know the guide said we're not allowed pets but... well something happened and I kind of became a special case, so I hope you don't mind sharing with Lockheed."
You nod warmly, expecting her to bring in a cat or dog from her room as you watch amazed as she simply phases through the door to her room. But that amazment is tripled when she brings out a squaking, one foor purple creature which you can only describe as like a baby dragon. "What the heck...?"
"Oh, this is Lockheed. Don't worry, he's house trained. Well admitively I had to clean up some nasty carpet burns when I first got him from the Nega-" she trails off slightly... "Um, I mean from... er, China! Yeah, China... So anyway, he's very well behaved. Say hello Lockheed." The purple dragon leans over her shoulder to look at you before speaking some weird language which is so not Chinese. Kitty seems to understand the phase though and frowns. "Now thats a bit rude. Just because he's new doesn't mean he's an idiot Lockheed." The creature speaks again, a little more humbly. "Thats better, I think."
Putting Lockheed down on the sofa she turns back to you and smiles warmly. "So classes don't start for you till tomorrow and I've volunteered to show you round for the day. What would you like to see first?"
You smile back, thinking that you're going to enjoy the beautiful and friendly company of Kitty Pryde.
