Result of rivalry

Xarlat has done it this time. Proving to be a malevolent trickster, he managed to gain his revenge on his greatest enemy of the Arthras family. Marlin never once suspected that the banished jester would wind up using strange magic of dark forces one day.

The jester magician appeared before Marlin, flaunting the great magic it acquired. Taken aback by this Marlin ordered the evil magician to leave, especially noting of the dark magician’s methods of torturing prostitutes, the knights, and servants of the royal family as a means for show, spite, and trickery. Being found out as the culprit of the deaths, ailments, scarring their bodies, and subjects to various medieval torture methods, the evil Xarlat would leave after Marlin punished him by becoming a mere puppet of short stature in hopes of halting the jesters evil before being tossed into fire.

Xarlat managed to somehow become animate through an unknown force that he allied himself with. He gained great magic from his savior, refining his trickery with his new-found magic. Keeping his puppet like appearance Xarlat would swear to meet the mage once more in order to have his revenge.

Now before the great magician trusted by the king, the jester engages the mage in magical combat, proving just how much skill and potency he carries. After a while of each magician’s display of power, Xarlat proves to gain the upper hand, binding Marlin with enchanted rope and transforming him into the form of Xarlat once appeared as before becoming and embracing his new look. Looking much like the younger version of Marlin, the good mage would watch as the small puppet transmogrify an inanimate chair into the good mage’s likeness, becoming a servant who would obey Xarlat orders as Xarlat vanishes with the changed Marlin.

Appearing before some knights that were eating, Marlin would fall to the ground with Xarlat staying hidden from view. Casting a spell, Xarlat would create an explosive force that would char the nearby knights and draw attention to him and Marlin. Some of the guards approach the area, and with a nefarious smile, Xarlat leaves the restrained magician behind as he disappears in smoke, ready to bring the fall of the kingdom.
