You knew that telling your parents the truth wouldn't help. You had to bide your time, not make any waves and then wait until you could get your body back. This meant you had to act like a little girl as best you could. You had to pretend to play with dolls and toys, watch a lot of Sesame Street and shows like that and spend a lot of time 'learning' how to potty. The problem was that you kept having small accidents since your muscles weren't strong enough. But it was more like a few drop here and there.
Whenever you asked about Matt your parents would say he is away and they are trying to make him better. One day you heard 'your parents' talking.
"I just got off the phone with Carol (Matt's mother) and it's not going well," your new mom said.
"What is happening?"
"Well they took him to the hospital and took an MRI. There doesn't seem to be anything physically wrong with his brain, but he has regressed. He is acting like a little kid. They don't know why. He said he is OK but he isn't acting like a teen. They caught him sucking his thumb and he keeps turning on cartoons on his TV. He can't seem to control himself so they had to put him into a diaper."
"Really?"
"Yes. The psychiatrists don't know what to do. So they tried hypnosis. It was then that he said he wasn't a boy at all. He said he was really a little girl."
"A little girl?"
"Yeah. The doctors don't want to reinforce his delusion so they tried to treat him just like a teen. But It isn't working. The more they try and treat him like a teen, the worse it gets. Finally he said he was fine and wanted to go home.
The doctors said they couldn't let him and he had, I don't know how else to describe it but as a tantrum. He started crying and kicking and screaming saying he wanted to go home. They had to sedate him to quiet him down."
"Oh my god."
"Then one night, he left his room and they found him trying to leave the hospital. Someone saw him and brought him back to his room, when he tried again they had to restrain him. They have him tied to the bed so he can't leave. They just don't have the staff to watch him full time."
"I feel sorry for the boy."
"Me too, but it gets worse."
"How could it get any worse?"
"Well all of a sudden he doesn't say he is a little girl anymore."
"That's better, isn't it?"
"No now he says he is an adult. he says he is one of the nurses."
"One of the nurses?"
"Yes, that is what he said."
"What are they going to do about it?"
"Well they are going to try hypnosis again. But this time they are going to do it in combination with a drug that makes the hypnosis more effective. They are going to try and convince him of who he is."
"Do they think it'll work?"
"They hope so. They are going to try it with the strongest drugs they have."
"I hope they can help him."
"Me too."
"Let's not tell Bianca about him. It'd just upset her."
