Samus had no idea how deep this lake was until she started exploring. She couldn't say for sure, but it was well over 100 feet deep, and deeper yet. Even with her enhanced Chozo breathing abilities, she never so much as recieved a hint that there was a bottom. What she did know for sure is that the deeper she got, the warmer it was.
