It was a few days later, hours before the birthday party. Michael watched himself glumly in the bathroom mirror as he pulled on the tiny cat-hat. It looked ridiculous, but he'd not had the money to buy the full-body cat suit.
Two silly cat ears stood up on top and the tail dangled down behind, tickling his neck. His girlfriend was going to laugh it up.
As he deeply regretting his cheap choice in costume, he felt a strong wave of itchiness run down his face and neck. Gah, the stupid thing probably had fleas! He examined himself in the mirror and was shocked to see a wave of fur emanating from the hat, rippling down his face in relation to the itchiness. He yanked the hat off and threw it across the bathroom, but the itchiness continued to spread across his chest then limbs, and he knew the fur had spread with it.
The worst part was watching his face lose it's human contours and begin to take on a feline structure. Before he could witness the entire process, the ground came up to meet him as he shrank. For a minute, he wrestled to escape from his now-huge clothes, and when he finally extricated himself, he found himself standing on all fours on his bathroom floor, a fully fledged, fluffy -
