A few minutes pass, which didn't seem like a good sign Tyler. He had gotten tired of wearing heels and had asked Maya if he could take them off. She denied; her reasoning that she didn't want hear feet getting dirty from the stage. "Oh, yeah. Especially since that old creep's been walking all over it." Tyler's quirky remark made Maya chuckle a bit. Nonetheless, Tyler sat down on the stage, respecting Maya's wishes and keeping her heels on.
The audience didn't seem to get too riled up from the lack of entertainment; they rather enjoyed the unexpected break between the acts of Mortie's show. Tyler's friends were still at their seats, chatting away and not paying any attention to the still feet swapped Tyler on stage. "I wonder what could be taking him so long?" Maya inquired, although it wasn't like Tyler had an answer. He just shrugged his shoulders.
"Pardon me!" Mortie's voice boomed from the stage speakers. "There seems to have been a....problem backstage. Would the audience kindly exit the theatre in an orderly fashion." he requested. "There will be theatre associates at the front doors ready to give you full refunds for your tickets." Every audience member got up and left as Mortie asked; Tyler notioned to his friends to just leave for now, he'll meet up with them later. Maya's party also left, much to her chagrin. She was still a little miffed about being swapped still.
"I knew that old coot was up to something. C'mon Maya, let's go see what's going on backstage." Tyler said. He got up and nearly fell back due to the heels; luckily Maya caught him in time. The swapped couple walked toward the opening in the curtains where Mortie had went through before. Along the way, they passed by the boxes Mortie had used for his swapping act. Tyler looked at them with disgust. Suddenly, the boxes exploded, setting fire to the stage. Tyler and Maya were knocked back and watched as a stagehand came out and sprayed the burning boxes with a fire extinguisher. "Please tell me that's a good thing." Maya worried. "Well, that's debatable." Mortie said, as he came back to the stage.
