After Amanda was put to bed, Kristen told Joe that his bed time was in an hour, but they could play some cards before bed. Kristen got the cards and they played several games of 'Steal The Old Man's Bundle' before bedtime. Joe enjoyed the game and so did Kristen but not for the same reason. Joe liked to play cards and Kristen enjoyed being with Joe like any mother would with her child.
With fifteen minutes left before bedtime, Kristen told Joe to get ready for bed which meant put on his pajamas and brush his teeth. When he had done so he headed towards the room of the suite where he expected to sleep.
"Where are you going young man," Kristen demanded.
"To bed?" Joe said speculatively.
"Not in there, your room is that way?" Kristen said indicating the room that Amanda was sleeping in. That room had only one bed, whereas the other room had twin beds.
"That is where mommy sleeps."
"That's right, we can't afford a room with three bedrooms so you'll have to sleep with her. Daddy and I will be sleeping in the other room."
"You and daddy will be sleeping together?"
"Yes, what is so strange about that, we sleep together at home."
"You do?"
"Stop being silly and get into bed with Amanda." Kristen didn't only talk like an adult but she also had the authority of her mother. Joe had little choice but to do as she requested. Joe got into bed with Amanda. he felt uncomfortable about it, but couldn't go against Kristen's wishes.
Dr. Moriarty had been watching. He was going to whisk Amanda and Joe back to the lab as soon as Joe was asleep.
