Sarah rolls next and gets a nine. As the piece comes to a stop, she draws her card. "Prepare to don some fins!!" Confused, her attention is drawn to her legs as they start to itch. Suddenly, vibrant blue scales burst out as her legs swell. "No... No, no, no... NO!!" Sarah screams both in pain and terror as her feet swell in her tennis shoes, exploding out in fleshy webbed masses that fuse together. Sarah keeps screaming as she tries in vain to hold her legs apart as they fuse together, the scales finishing their growth. You ask Alexis, "I get that she's turning into a mermaid, but why is she freaking out so bad about it?"
Alexis explains, "Sarah is highly aquaphobic. She once nearly drowned when she was 5 at the beach when a small shark tried to attack her, and again when she fell overboard from a ferry when she was 7. Ever since, deep water, the ocean, fish, and aquatic things like boats terrify her. She couldn't even watch "The Little Mermaid" without shaking the first time. The idea of becoming part fish must be like a living nightmare to her." A ripping sound fills the air, and her shredded panties fall out from under her skirt. Finally, the last of her legs joined with her hips, forming the full fish tail, and the change was complete. Sarah was hyperventilating as she sat hugging herself, tail thrashing about, nearly knocking over the table as she turns over her chair in her panic. Alexis ran over to her, grabbing her, simultaneously checking to see the extent of her transformation. Apparently, outside of her legs turning into a fish tail and her ears becoming slightly pointed, nothing else changed. "It's alright. You've stopped changing. See?! Look." Sarah stops thrashing and sobbing. "You don't have to go into any water if you don't want to. In fact, I don't see any gills whatsoever, and the fact you're still breathing air means just that. If we win this game, you can change back if you want."
Sarah looks up, and cracks a small smile. "O... Okay. Guess I'll be alright for now. Besides, it's kind of funny, a mermaid who can't swim or breathe underwater, and is terrified of water." Alexis offers to help her up, but Sarah pushes herself up on her own, finding it unusually easy to balance on her tail. Alexis sets up her chair as Sarah hops over to her seat, amazed at how natural mermaid locomotion on land is coming to her. You quip, "I guess it was a good thing you wore a skirt today. You'd be out a pair of pants right now otherwi..." Sarah stares daggers at you.
