Giant Gems

Given that Steven has always had a thing for giant women, wouldn’t it be neat if gems were naturally enormous? The Crystal Gems, their enemies, and recent allies are all massive. Even the corrupted gems are more like kaiju, and the ground shakes when they battle our heroes. Luckily, Garnet, Pearl, and Amethyst are benevolent to the humans they’ve sworn to protect, especially Steven, whom they love like a son.

Then again, maybe they’re not so nice? Maybe Rose hated that the Empire was destroying Earth’s ecosystem, but she never fully recognized humans as people. Maybe Steven was the unintended result of an experiment that everyone assumed Rose wanted all along, and the Crystal Gems are just stuck looking after this strange alien animal, viewing Steven as more of a pet than a person.

Alternatively, maybe the Empire only wanted to rule Earth without killing the local ecosystem. In this route, humans are regarded as pets and playthings by their gem masters. Steven could be a regular human adopted by Pink Diamond. He could also be the result of an experiment that either lets Pink keep her form, or she’s still gone, and her ‘son’ belongs to the other Diamonds.

Or, we could ignore Steven and focus on someone else, either living on a human farm, in a zoo, or adopted as a gem’s plaything. You make the call.
