Greg turns the water on and takes a normal shower.
William heads back to the room, where Jack has already cleaned up and gotten dressed.
"Do you mind if I go to breakfast with you?"
"You're still hungry after all that junk food?"
"Yeah, it's weird, but I feel like I didn't eat anything at all. Plus, we have the same classes today, and can head out from the cafeteria."
William continues to be weirded out by his new roommate.
"Um.. sure."
At the cafeteria, William realizes he's pretty hungry himself and eats almost twice his normal breakfast. He has no frame of reference for Jack, but Jack seems to chow down a lot too.
William and Jack's 11 o'clock class is fairly boring, just an introduction to the course and professor. He finds it difficult to focus the whole time, even though the class only lasts a half-hour, because of a growing hunger. Despite a large and late breakfast, William finds himself taking third helpings at lunch, and still not feeling full. At his 2-4 p.m. class, William can hardly pay attention at all, and both boys skips their 4-5, heading for the cafeteria. Jack loads a tray full of plates, which are in turn full of food. William similarly loads up and sits down next to him.
Like they haven't eaten in days, both boys dig into their food with reckless abandon and clear the trays full of fatty cafeteria food. Still they are so hungry that William pushes Jack for his place in line. They come back to the table with individual servings this time and eat, but are finally full.
Jack stops at the store on the way home to replenish the junk food he destroyed, but William goes straight home. The day has been strange, new and tiring, and despite not having any classes the next day, he goes to sleep early. The next morning William's alarm goes off.
He curses forgetting to shut it off before going to sleep, but gets up anyway. William gets out of bed, but he doesn't take three steps before he's struck by an extreme hunger. Food suddenly seems more necessary than air. On their shared couch, he sees the bags of junk food Jack must have brought back, and digs into them, tearing some of them open with such force that they fly all over the room. He opens every bag and eats ravenously until it's empty. He's about to start grabbing food from the floor when he feels a tap on his shoulder and comes to his senses. Jack is standing over him, looking concerned.
"Are you all right?"
William sits back. "I-- I don't know what came over me."
"It's just like what happened yesterday to me."
"It's never happened to me before."
"Me either, before yesterday."
"Weird."
Both boys are weirded out, but try to think nothing of it.
