Chapter #9

Jack helps the fire dept. rescue someone

    by: Zazu Author IconMail Icon
Jack was thinking about his good deeds as he strolled home. His day was going great. He was the strongest anthro alive, and he was saving peoples' lives! He was practically a superhero!

Just then, Jack noticed something in the distance. It looked a thin trickle of smoke. Suddenly, the smoke grew larger and thicker, and Jack realized what was happening. A building was on fire!

Acting quickly, Jack dashed towards the smoke, which was only a few blocks away. Upon reaching the scene, Jack gasped. The building was a large apartment complex, but it was completely engulfed in flames. Anthros were getting out of the building as fast as they could. The fire department had arrived, but the fire was putting up a good fight.

Suddenly, Jack heard a sudden cry from the firefighters. "Someone's still in there!" the fireman shouted. The firefighters were trying to get in, but the flames were too strong for them.

Jack knew he had to help. He sprinted towards the entrance, sidestepping firefighters as he dashed through the door. Jack frantically looked around the level for the victim as the flames grew stronger. Suddenly, Jack heard a cry from the second floor. Intent on saving the person, he sprinted up the crumbling stairs.

As he went up, the flames grew stronger, but Jack knew he couldn't give up, and his muscles gave him better resistance to the fire. After a small time of searching, he heard the cry coming from a room down the hallway. Sprinting and jumping over fallen objects, Jack made it to the room. However, he was annoyed to find a pile of fallen wood blocking the entire doorway.

Cracking his knuckles, Jack pulled back and threw a punch that shattered the wood and sent it flying everywhere, opening a pathway. Jack made his way into the room and spotted the person crying for help. It was a young dog anthro, trapped under a large refrigerator. He was yelling loudly, but it was apparent he was about to go unconscious.

Jack squatted down and grasped the refrigerator, bending the metal in the process. With a grunt, he picked up the refrigerator and casually tossed it aside, then going to pick up the young dog, who had finally gone unconscious. Jack headed back towards the stairs.

However, Jack was disdained to find that the stairs had been blocked off by roaring flames that even Jack knew he couldn't get through, much less the dog in his muscular arms. Jack needed another way out.

That's when Jack spotted the open window on the other end of the hall. He knew it was risky, as he was on the second floor, but it was his only option at that point. Taking a deep breath, he sprinted down the hall and jumped out the window.

Jack tried to position himself so that he would land in a way that wouldn't injure him or the dog. As he landed on the ground, he felt a small shock, but he was surprised as he felt no pain. He laid the dog on the ground as the ambulance pulled up. The firefighters and others came around to congratulate and admire him. Jack was happy for all the attention, but he knew he should leave in case another emergency should pop up.

You have the following choices:

1. All of the exertion makes Jack grow.

*Pen*
2. Jack responds to another emergency before heading home.

*Pen* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
