A Rune Awakening

He came across a stretch of tunnel that had weird markings etched onto the left and right walls. There were strange runes and small pictures that indicated as some kind of writing and language system. Some of it looked familiar like combined stars, a backwards ‘h’, the female gender symbol, etc. while the rest just looked like a combination of lines, circles, and other shapes that supposed to represent or mean something. It was definitely and obviously unnatural as if created by some kind of ancient tribe that lived nearby the mountain range.

Part of some kind of ritual? Maybe close to written historic events? Its purpose and meaning puzzled him, but still went on his way.
As he went further down the symbol covered tunnel, he saw something strange happening to them that caused him to stop. They started to glow a slightly dim pinkish hue. It caused him to be slightly nervous and cautious.

“What’s happening now?” he said.

Soon, he started to feel…
