Ancient Temple

As his search for his Arwing's comms system took him further and further away from the crash site, Fox found himself getting progressively more agitated. Since he never saw it fly out of his craft, locating it was mostly a guessing game. Did it get thrown out away from the ship? Did it carry its momentum? Did it cause any damage to the nearby landscape? Now that he thought about it, how could it even still be operational? Reinstalling a functional component of his Arwing was one thing, but fixing an already-broken one was another. If he didn't find it soon, continuing his search would probably just be a waste of time.

Fox's thoughts were interrupted by a strange sight through the trees. Instead of more green leaves and brown bark, he saw something that looked like stone with a dirty yellow color. Between his curious instincts and his weariness of the current scenery, Fox couldn't keep himself from approaching this new find.

Stepping out of the trees and into a small, open clearing, Fox got a good look at what looked like an old, abandoned temple. The structure consisted of a small pyramid--no larger than a townhouse--and a short set of stairs leading into a doorway. The stone was worn, mossy, and covered in places by stray vines and roots. There were no statues, carvings, writing, or paintings to indicate what the structure's purpose was.

"Strange," Fox thought aloud. "Wasn't this planet supposed to be uninhabited?" Mulling over several possibilities for a few moments, he decided to drop the subject. The day's events had left him too irritated and impatient for anything that didn't produce results. Besides, he could look into it all he wanted after he was rescued. "At least I have shelter in case I'm not out of here by sunset," Fox admitted to himself. It wasn't the kind of progress he wanted, but finding this place was still a net positive for him.

Fox climbed the steps and stepped through the temple's entrance. Beyond the doorway, it seemed to extend a short ways underground. A sloping hallway lit by gaps in the ceiling led into a large central chamber that gave Fox an idea about the temple's purpose. In it, he found...
