Chapter #6

A man, a scroll, a story

    by: Unknown
Naruto Uzumaki was a young cheerful boy of thirteen. He was a minted shinobi, genin level of the leaf village, and had a love of wearing bright colors namely orange. Naruto was currently in the land of blue waters, one of the most popular vacation spots in all the elemental nations. Kakashi had decided that team seven deserved a break, both for what they had done, and to celebrate their new hokage.
Naruto smiled as he walked through one of the quieter parts of the shopping district. Everyone he passed greeted him with kindness, and no one had looked at him with disdain, ah if only the leaf where more like this. Naruto continued walking, admiring the town not noticing that someone was coming down the same way, their vision obscured.
Naruto felt something bump into his head and some panicking, and as he turned, a shadow over came him before he found himself buried under a mountain of books, and boxes. Ah no, not again,” the person cried as he began picking up his items. Just as he reached for an old looking tome, bound in peeling leather, Naruto managed to rise from his burial mound.
“Ow and they say that books never hurt anyone,” Naruto mumbled.
“Ack, are you okay, ah I’m so sorry, I hadn’t seen you,” the person cried catching Naruto’s attention.
“Ow sorry, ah don’t apologize since I didn’t watch where I was going,” Naruto said, and began gathering books and scrolls. Soon e everything had been collected, and by some miracle no book had been damaged, and no scroll lost.
“Thank you young man, in this day that aren’t many people willing to leaned a helping hand,” the stranger said. Naruto turned and finally was able to get a good look at the bookworm. He was tall and lanky, like Kakashi, his reddish orange hair messy and falling in front of his full rimmed glasses. He wore a shirt that clung loosely from him, accentuating his thin body. His pants where worn and thin, a few patches on the side.
“No problem, names Naruto Uzumaki future Hokage, believe it,” the said smiling. The man looked at Naruto strangely before sticking out his hand.
“Call me H, everyone dose,” the man said, as Naruto took his hand in a firm shake.
“Hey Naruto do you mind helping me take these to my house and I’ll give you something for your trouble,” H asked hopefully.
Despite what everyone in the leaf thought Naruto was rather smart but preferred to keep quiet to avoid an negative attention, however h didn’t seem the kind of person with an underhanded plan or motive, so he agreed.
The trip was short and soon they arrived to a rather nice looking two story building. “Just set the books down anywhere you can,” h said as he opened the door and entered. When Naruto walked in the first thing he thought was of how much this place was like his room. Books where all over the place and there was hardly any room to move. Not seeing an option Naruto placed the books he had help carry and placed them down on a small pile of books that already existed.
“Naruto, come here a moment please,” h called from farther in. Naruto began walking being careful to not disturb any of the books on the floor.
“In here Naruto,” H called as Naruto approached one of the doorways in the hall. Naruto turned and their was H looking in a books.
“I want to give you something for helping me, and as a gift, cause I think you could get more from it than I,” H said as he pulled out two scrolls and handed them to Naruto.
Naruto gingerly took the scrolls, and examined them. One was covered by an orange with black stripe pattern; the other was sealed with a familiar mark. The mark was a red swirl outlined in black, the mark seen on the back of a leaf shinobie’s vest.
“I figured an Uzumaki would have more use of one of their sealing scrolls than I, the other was given to me by a customer as payment. It is a rare scroll containing the jutsu called Beast Becoming. With it a person can take on the characteristics of a certain animal, the one you hold is for tiger. I don’t know all the details other than a person can switch between full tiger, half human half tiger form, and full humen form with some kind of tiger characteristic,” H explained as Naruto looked over the scroll’s, namely the sealing scroll.
Uzumaki… a sealing scroll by an Uzumaki. That meant that he had a family, and maybe their where others out there, somewhere. “H, please tell me, what do you know about the family Uzumaki,” Naruto said looking up at H begging.
H was slightly taken back. “Well I know the Uzumaki family founded the nation of Uzu which fell during the last shinobi war, and help found Konoha, which eliminated the Uzumakis history for some reason, maybe to not look weak for losing an ally, or possibly to try and claim the land of Uzu for themselves, I don’t know. I also know the Uzumakis had a strange and powerful chakra, long life spans, and an powerful capability for the sealing arts. Other than that, I don’t know,” H said.
Naruto was a little disappointed, but glad he had been able to learn something about his family. “Thanks H it’s not much but at least I know something now,” Naruto said smiling sadly. H remained silent and nodded.
Naruto gathered himself and stood. “Thanks for the scrolls, but I got to get going, maybe we’ll meet again,” Naruto said. H nodded.
“As do I hope we will meet again Naruto, I wish you well. And a piece of advice; be yourself. Do that and you can accomplish more than you could dream,” H said as he held his hand out. Naruto took it and shook it one last time then           left.
Naruto saw that It was only just past four if the clock in town was correct, and he didn’t have to meet up with his team till six, so he decided to go and look over his scrolls some more. The sealing scroll would take longer to learn since it was more theory and how a seal was done, Naruto decide to focus on the tiger scroll. Not wanting to cause a panic or destroy anything if something went wrong, Naruto decided it would be best to find a reclusive place to practice.
The place Naruto had decided to practice was a small sheltered cove several miles away from the town and was surrounded by a rocky out crop, a perfect place to practice. Naruto opened his scroll to read the instructions and hand signs, noting how a part had been worn away with age. He couldn’t make it out but assumed it wasn’t too important. The hand signs were simple, and went Tiger, monkey, tiger, bird, tiger.
Naruto breathe deeply trying to relax and gather his Chakra, then began the weaving the signs. At first nothing happened but then Naruto felt a surge nerve wracking pain. His bones seemed to break apart then come back together simultaneously. His muscles tore then knitted back together, his organs seemed to liquefy before reforming stronger than ever.
Naruto gasped after what felt like an eternity in fire, gasping to fill his lungs with air. Naruto slowly began standing up his body aching in protest. Naruto brought his hand up to rub his temple when he noticed something. His nails where longer sharper, like when he use the Kyuubi’s chakra, and along his hands where dark stripes that stopped as they reached his knuckles.
Pulling the sleeve of his jacket Naruto saw the stripes went up his arm. Going to a stagnate pond Naruto was able to see his reflection, though not quite clearly. In what could be seen stripe adorned his neck and went up his face, his whiskers thicker than before, unfortunate the water didn’t reveal anything past his mouth so Naruto couldn’t quiet see what his face looked like.
Naruto smiled and without thinking took off to his team wanting to show them the new Naruto.
