Kane set out to find the owner of the doll. He knew he was going in the right direction, because whenever he turned in the wrong direction Kiria wound peck him or screech in his ear.
A week or so later Kane came to a small village called Kyra, named after the city it was closest to. Kane walked around the village looking for the girl who owned the doll he carried. All the girls he saw could never be a knight.
He was begining to lose all hope when he heard some boys yelling and laughing. He followed the sound and came to the edge of the village where it appered that all the boys were gathered around something. Kane went forward for a better look.
Standing inside the circle was a very large girl. She was not fat, she was just very tall, with broad shoulders, a thick waist, and a deep chest. She stood in the center arms folded across her chest. Another boy a head shorter then the girl was walking around the circle talking.
"I swear it on my grandmother's grave, my Raven here can't be beaten. In a fight she won't go down or leave the circle." The boy was holding out a moneybag, though no one was putting money in it.
"You're grandmother is alive and well, Dlyan. And I'm not yours," the girl, Raven, says. She had a deep musical voice that sounded of good humor, and her dark blue-green eyes danced with laughter. The other boys laugh, Kane smiled.
Dlyan shruged, "Very true. Anyway who would like to try their luck with Raven eh? Anyone? Anyone at all?"
"Besides what could a 'lil 'ol girl like me do?" Raven asks and smiles.
A boy with short brown hair steps forward.
"I'll go." Raven backs up to the edge of the circle.
