Chapter #4
Mary, your cute photographer friend
by: Unknown
"Mary!" you call out to her.
She hears you, looks around and picks you out. She waves, indicating for you to come over. You're more than happy to oblige, and start walking over to her. Mary takes a few more shots of the trapeze twins meanwhile. Everyone at school knows she's the best photographer in our graduating class, and even got a scholarship to art school.
"Hey, what's up?" you greet her as you approach your cute friend. Mary's most unique features starts with her died red hair, Her layered bangs cover her pencil thin eyebrows, but not her huge, expressive eyes and wide face. She wore a black tanktop with Band of Skulls on it, along with yoga pants and DC's on her small feet.
"Hey (your name)." she says, still taking a shots. "Whatcha doing here?"
"Oh you know, just getting out of the house," you say. "Saw that the circus was in town, so I dropped in."
With one final click, Mary directs her attention to you. "Isn't this great?! The newspaper asked me to take photos for the front page! I can't believe my luck!"
You smile. "I can, you're really talented Mary."
Mary laughs, giving you a playful punch on the shoulder. "Oh stahp! You're just saying that!"
"Seriously!" you insist. "You're going to art school, and got a scholarship too!"
"Pssh! That was my daddy's doing," she retorts, adjusting her camera before taking another shot. "He wants his little girl to grow up spoiled and dependent on him for everything."
This conversation isn't anything new. Mary hates her overprotective father, who owns a bank and is quite well off. He could buy her basically anything she wanted, but Mary enjoys the simpler things in life and hardly over-indulges. One example is the clothes she's wearing. They don't scream "rich girl" at all, but rather rebellious and comfortable.
"So how has your summer been?" you ask, trying to change the subject.
"Awesome! I've got a lot of pics for my portfolio!" she says excitedly. "I wish I wasn't as busy, but I like keeping myself working." she looks up at you, a sad look in her eyes. "I just we got more time to hang out this summer."
You give her a reassuring smile. "How about we grab a bite to eat after you're done here?"
The sadness in her eyes goes away. "Sure! Sounds like a great idea! Whatcha thinkin' (your name)?"
