Sitting on the circle that Cynder had drawn for her on the ground, Ember fidgeted, staring at the black dragoness nervously, who was flicking through the pages of the spell book.
"Are you sure this would work?" Ember asked, nervously.
"Positively," Cynder sat, "Ah, here we are."
Taking a step back, the black dragoness readied herself to cast the spell. "Okay, this would increase your IQ for a sort span of time," said Cynder, "Are you ready?"
Ember bit her lower lip. "S-sure," she stuttered her reply.
Alright, here goes nothing..."
Cynder began to chant the words, her voice growing distorted. Ember continued to sit there awkwardly, wondering when the spell would take effect. When nothing was happening, the pink dragoness wanted to interrupt Cynder, but suddenly Ember went rigid.
She was struck by a blast of knowledge. Chemistry, history, fighting tactics poured into her head, images flashed before her eyes. When it stopped, she fell over to the floor, groaning. The book forgotten, Cynder rushed over, helping Ember up.
"Are you okay," Cynder asked, worried.
"I-I think I am," said Ember, rubbing her head.
"Do you feel any smarted?" Cynder asked.
Ember thought for a few seconds. "You know what, I do feel smarter," said she gleefully, "I know everything about the test now!"
Cynder beamed. "I told you it would work," she said.
