Chapter #7

Subtle and quick to anger

    by: Hush Author IconMail Icon
Laura sighed and began digging deeper into the options of "The App." Before long her mouth was hanging open in disbelief. The settings seemed too amazing and outlandish to be believed. The app apparently could change intangible things in addition to physical ones. There were settings for almost everything, including emotional states, likes and dislikes, intelligence and more. As she searched through the options and settings Laura noticed one for "implementation" which was currently set to "real time." She thoughtfully opened the drop down and selected "historic" then began modifying her sister with a less vengeful result in mind.

Laura began picturing what life would have been like if she and Vanessa had shared similar interests. Would they be closer? Maybe even real friends with each other? Laura began going through Vanessa's likes and dislikes, swapping out things like "cheer-leading," "swimming," and "sun bathing" for "comics," anime,' and "video games." She also began taking out hobbies and activities like jogging, exercising or anything else that Vanessa may be doing to keep in shape, the imaginary sister/best friend Laura was imagining would be a couch potato. And it certainly wouldn't hurt Laura's self esteem if her sister maybe was pudgier than she was. She grinned mischievously as she nudged down Vanessa's metabolism a few notches and added some junk food cravings.

Laura was about to start adjusting Vanessa's desire to apply makeup and style her hair, and then finally get back to shrinking down her bust again when the sound of someone coming in through front door caught her attention.

"Hey Laura! Are you home? Your door was unlocked." Laura recognized the voice of her friend Jason. She couldn't remember him saying he had planned to come over but it wasn't uncommon for him to just drop by either.

"In my room," she yelled back. She turned back to the app, trying to decide what she was going to do before Jason got there.
