"You said that before but I'm not sure what it means."
"I am only able to use a small fraction of my strength from my body alone till the day I achieve my full strength. You are the one that can give me the rest in short intervals. Even controlling your own new power. Being able to control the passing before death. Servants!" Anubis called out to a group of smaller jackals, two brought forth a fern from the wall.
Anubis stood next to you as the fern was placed before you both. "Watch," he waved his hand and the plant began to wilt to a curling brown. "Now...here..." he held out his hand as you watched the dying fern, mesmerized. He held your hand gently as your focus came together.
"Wh-what do you want me to do?"
"Believe that the plant can still live. Focus on it and believe that it still can be green..."
"Is that all?"
"Yes, for something as small." You listened to his words and thought of the green plant it used to be before. The edges flicked lightly then wilted back, half-crumbling. "Do not think of what it once was, that form is long lost. Think of the plant living." You looked into his eyes in disbelief, and near protesting. But his gaze told you 'I believe'.
You tried again to focus on the plant's life. To make yourself not think of what it looked like before, you closed your eyes. You just envisioned a fern, not remembering what the one before you used to look like. Just a new plant similar to it. It formed in your mind and you felt something odd and warm coming from your hands. Then Anubis's voice "good, you did well." When you heard this you opened your eyes to find that the plant had formed to a similar shape to the one you envisioned, beautiful green leaves and all.
You stepped away, partly afraid but also interested to say the least. "That's the power I have from you?!"
"Yes, you can control how near to death a living thing is or even reverse the process. Giving it life. Only I can truly kill with my power, but you can come close. I'm proud of you, my vassal," he had a very warm face. He was really happy you were able to use the power.
"Uhm, I'm glad...I could do it. It felt strange, but I kind of liked it."
"I am very happy you like my power even if it is a mere fraction. Although there is much more you may be able to do in time. A first step must be made anywhere to begin."
"Speaking of your powers, you said you needed to gain strength? I would like to help that as well if I can. What must I do?"
