Cloudsdale.
The moving city located high above the clouds, the epicenter of all weather phenomena in Equestria, and the home to the Wonderbolt Squad. Curiously enough, despite the suffix ‘dale’ being in the name, the town is not settled in a valley, but nobody ever pays attention to that. Instead, they pay attention to the beautiful Greek style buildings and architecture, with their eye-catching Pegasi motifs and dazzling shades of white.
To a lot of people, both Pony and Human alike, Cloudsdale offers an escape. High above the skies and far from Equestria Proper, the city is seen as a second chance at life, an opportunity to begin again. Failed artists whose work was seen as too new or suffering from ‘an absence of cultivated taste’ would find refuge in airy fields where they work could flourish without hindrance. Pegasi who go about wandering through their lives can find new purpose in the Wonderbolts, where one could find comradery and newfound friendship between squaddies.
The only problem is if you’re not a Pegasus, or a Dragon or Griffin, than getting to Cloudsdale can be...expensive. The city rarely ever leaves it’s position in the stratosphere, and will only dock and let others come on if there was a special event happening, or someone pays an ascension fee with a lot of digits in it. But as expensive as it is, people will stay pay, and Cloudsdale stays in the Black,
This is the story of Tom, a human, who has paid the exorbitant price for Cloudsdale to fly low enough for him to step on. The last couple of years for him have been...tough to say the least. He had been working as a cashier at a fast food joint ever since he was seventeen. But it was supposed to be a temporary gig until he could find work after college. Well, college came and went, but apparently he picked the worst possible degree because nobody would hire him. As of late, he’s become cynical, pessimistic, and kind of insufferable to his coworkers.
But that was all going to change. After years of living paycheck to paycheck, thrift shopping, and an admittedly appealing diet of cheap food from where he worked, he had finally made enough money to begin again in Cloudsdale. For the first time in a very, VERY long time...Tom felt a twinge of hope for his future.
