Still shaken, and fuming, you blurt out, "Well Mr Doyle? Your daughter is, well, how shall I put this?" You try to regain your composure, softening what you have to say, prefacing it with kinder words. "She's a very pretty girl, and I'm sure she's... Suddenly Doyle interrupts, "Yes! She has her late mother's looks. Ever since her mother died, she has been impossible for me to control. Guess I don't spend enough time with her. I'm a very busy man. She has that house all to herself most of the time, and she has developed quite a mind of her own. Did you know she's a model? She models for swimsuit magazines, and lingerie catalogs, and lots of other things I haven't really approved of. I have had to give up trying to tell her how to dress, and what to do. She's pretty out of my control. Still, among all the photo shoots, and the short skirts, and the aerobics classes, and all those scandously clad little friends she hangs out with, she is all I have in the world. She's my pride and joy." Mr Doyle looks you in the eye again, and you suddenly find it difficult to say what you have to say. Still, Lori wants to be your ride home, and you don't think you can bear another ride like the one you just went on. So you take a breath, and say in a calmer tone, "Yes! She's a pretty girl, and a bright one, but a little wreckless on the road. I was nervous as I could be with her behind the wheel!" Doyle shook his head, saying, Yes, I've had some trouble with that. Anything else?" I hesitated to go on, but I gulped, and said, "She was a little rough also." Doyle looked down at my broken travel case, and said, "Oh? What exactly happened?" He seemed to take a defensive posture, as I continued. "Well sir, the travel case was an accident, and the dog wasn't really her fault either." He raised his eye brows, and replied, "Dog?" "Yes sir." I continued, "She actually rescued me from a dog that found me after the travel case smashed. It's when we got back in the car that she started behaving so wrecklessly." It wasn't just her driving that was wreckless. She picked me up, and played with me like a doll!"
Doyule laughed, and replied, Oh, come on! You do sort of bring that on, you know! It's not every day that a young woman gets to meet such a little man? I mean, who can blame her! After all, you're not just a good looking young man, but you're doll sized, and pretty easy to handle!"
Then you add, "She even got a little fresh with me! Then she threatened me not to tell!" Doyle only seemed amused, Come on, calm down! She's a girl
I raised my voice, pleading, "Please find me another ride home!" Doyle said, "Alright! Alright! I'll think about it! Now come on, It's time for your speech!" Mr Doyle carried you back stage in the school auditorium. You looked out to find no lecturn. There was only an empty stage, and a small mike laying on the bare stage floor. Doyle goes out, and introduces you, and you stand nervously waiting for your cue.
