They enter an eating contest for couples.

A few months after the war, all the Nations gathered together for a grand festival in Ba Sing Se. There were many games and events there but one of the most popular was the Unity Eating Contest, an eating contest exclusively for couples that dealt with food from all nations. Each couple would be given two dishes from two opposing nations and the first couple to finish won. The couple that lasted through all nine rounds was considered the winning pair.
The couple that was the most excited was Aang and Katara, still in the "honeymoon phase" of their relationship. Katara also wanted very badly to beat her brother Sokka and his girlfriend Suki, who were also competing in the event. "Thanks so much for agreeing to do this with me Aang" the master water bender said to her Avatar boyfriend "I just have to prove that jerk Sokka that I can beat him at something without water bending."
As she said this, Katara cast a glare at her smug looking brother, who sat across from them with Suki. He stuck his tongue out at her in response. "No problem Katara" Aang said with a smile "I'm happy with whatever we do as long as we're together."
Katara smiled brightly and gave Aang a kiss on the cheek, making him blush. "Just you wait" she said "we'll show everybody we're the best couple ever!" Aang smiled. He couldn't wait for that.
The bell rang and the contest began. Katara was given a huge bowl of Earth Kingdom Jook and Aang was given a big platter of Hippo-cow ribs from the Fire Nation. They were a bit intimidated by the portions but refused to quit. Katara lifted the huge bowl and chugged it down while Aang forgot his vegetarian ways to swallow his ribs whole. Both gained quite a bit of weight but didn't care as long as they won.
The rounds continued and the portions grew even larger, as did the couples themselves. Eventually, everyone quit except for Aang, Katara, Sokka and Suki. The two couples had each won four of the first eight rounds and whoever won last would be the tie breaking champion. The now very obese Katara grinned as she pushed away the last of her eighth round dish, a giant Air Nomad Fruit Pie. "We did it Aang" she said to her equally large boyfriend "just one more round and we win!"
The chubby Avatar looked up from his Five Flavors soup and grinned "Great! And you know what? I think I might actually like meat!"
The couples' mood quickly darkened however when the final round was served "Papaya!?" Katara squealed as she saw the massive fruit on her plate "gross, I hate papaya!"
Aang reacted little better with his dish. "No, not that! Anything but that! Please don't make me eat..Sea Prunes!"
"Looks like you mighty benders are just a couple of chick-pigs" an obese Sokka laughed "why don't you give up now?" Katara and Aang looked at each other. They hated the thought of eating their least favorite meals but knew they would lose if they didn't. They also weren't allowed to switch meals. What could they do?
