This choice: Fight Birg and Catlyn first • Go Back...Chapter #6Hope in Humanity: Lost by: Crimson Your anger couldn't be suppressed, you wanted to unleash your wrath on whoever came into view. And 2 people unfortunately were right in front of you.
"I'll make all of you pay!" you roared.
Wasting no time, you propelled backwards, using the strength of your legs and your wings, while spewing a stream of blazing hot fire right at Birg and Catlyn. The latter panic and dove to her left, kissing dirt in the process. Birg was more prepared. He jumped to his right, then gave chase. As you didn't jump back very far, he soon approached you. You attempted to gnaw at him, but he evade it swiftly, then thrust his spear right on your neck. You braced yourself for pain, but it never came. The thick scales on your neck deflected Birg's spear completely. He was surprised, but regained his composure, then quickly kept distance before you could strike back at him.
Just then you realized that thick, hard scales covered your whole body except your wings, nose and eyes. It was by pure luck and the dragon's arrogance when he attempted to eat you alive last week that you could kill him from inside, where his scales could not protect him. Surely, you wouldn't give Birg the same opportunity like what you had. You reminded yourself not to try to eat him, at least not alive.
Birg also realized it was near impossible to kill you by himself (even with Catlyn's help) no matter how skilled he was. But he knew you wouldn't just let him and Catlyn go unscathed.
"Catlyn!" he shouted, "plan C"
"What?!" Catlyn looked surprised.
"Just do it!"
You didn't know what plan C was, but you damn swear they would not succeed. You breath out more fire at Birg. He attempted another parry & attack, this time aimed at your wing. But you were more prepared this time and you used one of your front legs to knock him off. Birg lost his spear as he flew from your hit. Before he could stand up and recover it, you jumped right on top of him, crushing his body with your right front leg. Birg screamed in agony, you must have broke some of his bones. Feeling satisfied for now, you looked around for your second prey, but Catlyn was nowhere to be seen.
"An ambush?" you thought out loud, "no, she ran away. So I guess plan C was for you to sacrifice yourself so she can get away? How noble of you, "
"*cough* Please, don't hurt her... If you still have some humanity left," Birg was pleading at you.
"I had them, before you came here. Now, Catlyn, wasn't it? I believe she would want to meet with her master one last time," you said before taking off, bringing Birg along with you.
Several minutes later, you spotted Catlyn while you were very high in the sky. You heard Birg's plea once more, but you didn't care about it and did what you wanted. You let Birg go, made him free-falling hundreds of meters, then fell hard about 10 meters in front of running Catlyn. She was very surprised from your 'gift' that she stumbled and fell as she tried to stop. Looking up from the ground, she finally realized it was her master who was falling in front of her, now dead as he obviously didn't survive the fall.
"No... Master..." she was too shocked to properly react and still laid on her stomach.
When you landed not far behind her seconds later, Catlyn finally rolled over to see you, using her arm and elbow to propped herself up. She still laid on the ground, as if she didn't have the will to fight or run. You slowly inched closer towards her.
"You monster..." you heard her softly whispered at you.
"I guess I am one now," you replied.
You lifted your tail and, using its sharp end, stabbed Catlyn on her chest. indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
