But the machine half becomes dominant and forces others to get the same procedure which eventually leads to a world full of cybernetic beings all controlled by a hive mind.

I wish that everyone (including animals and aliens) got a single wish at the same time with the only exception being no immortality, eternal life, or more wishes.
