Oh, and try not to talk too much right now. If someone bothers you too much ask for me or something. Don't worry, it'll be fine. Once the trip is over I can take you home."
Amber smiled and I led her out. Weird. How come a fifty year old girl is acting like this? Is that young for... a dragon lady? Dragoness? What do you call them?
Shaking your head you head out into the forest smiling as you lead Amber by the hand away. She looks really nervous as she follows you out, glancing everywhere as she goes. This is going to be hard. You almost suggest she hides somewhere rather than have her confront the school group. She's been alone here a long time, she'd be alright. Right? But looking into those eyes you can't leave her alone. No, she's coming with you now.
Soon you catch up with the group, Miss Rinwell talking about deciduous trees or something. You sidle into the back of the group, hoping not to be noticed. Fat chance!
"Peter? What are you doing?" Comes the bitter response as a girl walks up beside you. "And who's the trollop you've grabbed. God, she's dirty!" She whispers fiercely. Leaning in to stare at the very nervous Amber. "Where did you find this little slut. What, you can only get pre-schoolers to jump you now?" She added with a sneer.
"Melany! Get out of it!" I said, practically growling at her, glad no-one was noticing this exchange. "leave her alone."
" 'Leaf her alone!' " Melany mimicked, laughing at me. "Oh, the whole school is gonna know you're into babies! You little perv!"
