Amber's scowl deepened and to pointed at her belly through the jacket.
"Bad lady! Don't say bad things about Peter!"
"A... Amber?" I managed, stammering, staring at her belly and trying to ignore the raging hard on in my pants right now. "Y... you ate her?"
The little dragon girl looked up then saw the panic on my face and her nerves came back with a vengeance.
"Y... you don't like me?" She said with a squeak.
Oh god, what a mess!
"N... no of course I like you, it's just... you shouldn't eat people!" yeah, don't go around abusing the laws of physics! "W.. wait a minute."
I managed to quash my nerves, all the time worrying over what was happening to Melany, and went up to miss Rinwell.
"Miss? I'm not feeling good. Can I go home? I don't live that far from here, I can walk."
Miss Rinwell peered down with a fixed glare.
"The trip is almost over Mr Anderson. Surely you can wait five more minutes?"
I glanced over at Amber, eyes watering as she worried what was going to happen. I worried about what was happening in her stomach!
"No. I don't think I can wait miss. Sorry."
She sighed, then fixed me with a glare.
"Well, since you managed to stick with it though the rest of the trek..." Wow, guess they never noticed you were gone! "... I guess I can allow it. Do not let it happen again."
What? Let what happen again? Uh, best not question her about her choice of words.
"Of course miss. I understand. Thank you."
"Right, go on, off with you then."
I ran off and as soon as Miss Rinwell's attention was elsewhere grabbed Amber's hand and ran off with her. I kept going until we were WELL out of earshot of the group, then stopped.
"OK, Amber, cough her up. You REALLY shouldn't eat people!" I said, panting from the run. "You remember how you were scared I would hurt you? Well, how would you feel from her point of view? You wouldn't want anyone to hurt you like you did her, would you?"
