Celestia has never felt so lethargic in her entire life, and that was a big statement.
She barely managed to crack her eyes open, let alone sit up in bed. Her whole body felt she'd gone three round wih an ursa, without using magic. She finally managed to crawl out of her plush bed and practically fell on the floor. Muttering an expletive so ancient no even Luna knew its meaning, she stretched her body with several loud cracks and shuffled to her full-length mirror.
She was'nt prepared for what she saw.
Standing in the mirror, in contrast to her usual radiance and appearent youth, was a very old looking alicorn. The usually bright colors of her mane were pale and faded, the mane itself, usually flowing in an unseen etheral breeze, hung limply around her wrinkled face, her coat was pale grey instead of brilliant alabaster and her magenta eyes had lost their vaugely mischevious glint.
"What is this...?" Celestia noticed her voice was now rough and hoarse. When she finally worked up the willpower to pry her gaze from the mirror, she gasped when she saw the clock, she was supposed to raise the sun a half hour ago! Ignoring the pain from her protesting joints, she stiffly mad her way to her balcony and began the ritual she had maintained for several millenia.
Reaching out with the unique spell she inherited from her mother so long ago, Celestia touched the sun she had known so long and nudged it over the horizon, its life-giving warmth washed over her land. Celestia released the spell she held and slumped to the floor, 'I don't remember raising the sun being so difficult...' she thought.
It took about ten minutes for Celestia's strength to return so she could stand up, which she struggled to do. She nearly had a heart attack when there was an urgent knocking at her door. "Enter" she called, her door opened and her sister Luna stepped in, closing the door behind her. "Sister, are you alright? You were late... with the..." Luna's voice trailed off as she saw her dear sister in her current state. "Hello Lulu." Celestia said with a weak smile. "Celestia... what has hppened to you?"
