Wanting to know what was going on as soon as possible, Jane hurried to the hallway- and regretted it almost immediately. It looked as though a bomb had gone off- she could dimly see that the main doors had been smashed. She couldn’t see very well, though, because- and here was the problem-whatever caused the explosion had sent up a tremendous cloud of dust.
Her nostrils, already made sensitive by her pollen allergies, reacted immediately. The tickle it caused was so intense that tears sprang to Jane’s eyes.
“hh…hh!” she gasped, and clapped her hands to her nose. Beneath her fingers she could feel her nostrils flaring and squirming, desperate to do what they did best. This was awful. True, everyone’s view was obscured by the dust for now, but she wasn’t in costume, and she had no way of knowing what or who she might damage if she succumbed to this urge here and now.
